Iconfound
My good friends Don and Mike had the idea for a cryptogram-like puzzle built on simple symbols, played as a daily word game (in the style of Wordle). I jumped at the chance to build a web-based PWA, and Iconfound is the result.
In Iconfound, you’re given five encoded words around a common theme, and you have to work each one out from its symbols. There’s a new puzzle every day, plus all the patterns you’d expect from the genre: an archive of past games you can replay, streak tracking, a mobile-first design, and more.
The implementation of the game itself is very straightforward. It works as a simple React Single Page Application made in TypeScript, with minimal dependencies (e.g. no global state management library), and no server component.
No logins, no ads; just pure puzzling, made out of love for the genre.
